EFE.- Kansai Yamamoto, reconocido por vestir al desaparecido cantante David Bowie, murió el martes pasado debido a la leucemia mieloide aguda que le habían diagnosticado.

Su hija, la actriz Mirai Yamamoto, escribió en su Instagram que "el 21 de julio, mi padre, Kansai Yamamoto, falleció a la edad de 76 (años). Se fue de este mundo pacíficamente, rodeado de sus seres queridos".

"En mis ojos, mi padre no era sólo el alma ecléctica y enérgica que el mundo conocía, pero también alguien que era considerado, bondadoso y afectivo. Valoraba la comunicación y me cubrió con su amor durante toda mi vida", plasmó Mirai en su cuenta.

Yamamoto nació en Yokohama, Japón en 1944, pero creció en la ciudad de Gifu.

Con 27 años se convirtió en el primer japonés en realizar un desfile de moda en Londres, en 1971; repetiría la hazaña en 1975 en París.

Su fama se elevó aún más cuando se volvió amigo de Bowie, para quien diseñó el vestuario de sus giras Ziggy Stardust y Aladdin Sane, durante los 70.

Los diseños de Kansai Yamamoto se basaban en el teatro japonés kabuki, más otros elementos tradicionales orientales, y su carácter vanguardista y excéntrico que destacaba en las pasarelas.

El japonés siguió trabajando hasta febrero de este año, cuando fue hospitalizado por la leucemia mieloide aguda que le fue dictaminada.
